Terms of Service

In short. Capture pages you are entitled to capture, do not point
the service at anything you do not have the right to save, and do not try to use
it as a way into somebody else's network. We will keep your archives private and
unmodified, and we will not hold them hostage — every one of them is exportable
as a standard WARC file. The service is provided as it is, without a warranty
that it will never fail.
01This agreement
These Terms form an agreement between you and Sverige Analytics AB,
a company registered in Sweden under company number 559538-4917 and based in
Umeå, Sweden (EU) ("Archivepanel", "we", "us"), covering your use of the websites
at archivepanel.com and dashboard.archivepanel.com and
the service they provide.
By creating an account or using the service you accept these Terms. If you are
agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
If you do not accept these Terms, do not use the service.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of this agreement.
02The service
Archivepanel captures a web page you nominate into a self-contained HTML
document, together with a preview image, a plain-text rendering, a WARC
container and a JSON manifest, and stores those files privately under your
account. Captures can be run on demand or on a recurring schedule, including
from an XML sitemap, and a capture that is still queued or running can be
stopped, in which case nothing is stored for it.
Features may change, and we may add, alter or withdraw parts of the service.
Where a change materially reduces what your account can do, we will give you
notice by email.
03Your account
- You must give a real email address you control. It is your account identifier, and sign-in depends on receiving a code at it.
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- Keep your password and your sign-in codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly at support@archivepanel.com if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
- One account per person or organisation unless we agree otherwise. Do not create accounts to work around a storage allowance or a suspension.
04Acceptable use
You may use Archivepanel to capture web pages you are lawfully entitled to access and to copy. You must not:
- Capture material you have no right to copy, or use the service to infringe copyright, database rights, trade secrets or any other right of a third party.
- Circumvent access controls. Do not use the service to get around a paywall, an authentication screen, a licence restriction or a technical protection measure.
- Overload or disrupt a target site. Schedules exist to keep a record, not to hammer somebody's server. Configure cadences and page limits responsibly, and respect the terms and the crawling preferences of the sites you capture — assessing those is your responsibility, not ours.
- Attempt to reach infrastructure you are not entitled to reach. The capturer refuses loopback, private, link-local, carrier-grade NAT and unique-local addresses, and screens every redirect hop. Do not try to defeat that, and do not use the service to scan, probe or attack any network.
- Store unlawful material, including child sexual abuse material, content that incites violence or terrorism, or anything whose possession is illegal where you or we are located.
- Interfere with the service: no attempts to break authentication, to read another account's data, to exhaust shared capacity, to defeat rate limits or proof-of-work, or to reverse engineer beyond what applicable law permits.
- Resell or provide the service to third parties as your own without our written agreement.
You are responsible for the lawfulness of what you capture, including having a
lawful basis where a captured page contains personal data about other people.
05Your content
Archives you create, and the addresses and schedules you configure, are yours. We
claim no ownership of them.
You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to fetch the
addresses you nominate, to store the resulting files, to process them into a
preview, a text rendering, a WARC container and a manifest, and to transmit them
back to you.
That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account.
We do not use your archives to train models, we do not index them for anyone else,
and we do not disclose them except where compelled by law.
06Storage allowances
- Each account has a snapshot storage allowance, 50 MB by default, counting every file a capture stores — the document, its preview, its text rendering, its WARC container and its manifest.
- A capture that would exceed your allowance is refused and never stored; you are told why.
- Scheduled captures are skipped while an account is over its allowance and resume automatically once space is freed. The schedule itself is not disabled.
- Allowances are set per account. Ask us at support@archivepanel.com if you need more room.
07Immutability and deletion
An archive records what a page said on a given date, so nothing rewrites one.
Capturing the same address again files a new snapshot alongside the old rather
than replacing it.
Deletion is irreversible. It requires re-entering your password
for exactly that reason. Once an archive is deleted, its stored files are removed
and we cannot restore them. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to
lose — every capture is downloadable, and the WARC export exists so that keeping
your own copy is straightforward.
08Availability
We aim to keep the service running and your archives intact, but we do not offer a
service level agreement, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free
operation. Maintenance, capacity limits, provider failures and faults will
sometimes cause downtime or a failed capture.
A capture depends on a third-party site being reachable and renderable. Some pages
cannot be captured faithfully — heavy scripting, aggressive bot mitigation and
authentication walls all defeat it. A failed capture is reported to you and does
not count against your allowance.
09Fees
Archivepanel has a free tier, and an account on it is free to use. If we
introduce paid plans, the free tier stays; we will give existing account
holders notice by email before any charge could apply to them, and you will be
free to export your archives and close your account instead.
10Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings, which removes your account
record and the archives filed under it. You may also empty the account of every
archive and schedule without closing it. Both actions require your password and
neither can be undone.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, that puts the
service or other users at risk, or where we are legally required to. Except where
the breach is serious or we are compelled to act immediately, we will contact you
first and give you a chance to put it right, and we will give you a reasonable
opportunity to export your archives.
11Our intellectual property
The service, its software, its interface and the Archivepanel name and mark are
ours or our licensors'. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you beyond
the right to use the service as described here.
12Disclaimers
The service is provided as is and as available.
To the fullest extent the law permits, we exclude all implied warranties,
including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Archivepanel is not a notary, a timestamping authority, or a certification
service. A capture is a faithful copy of what a browser rendered at the
moment it ran, and the record states what we genuinely observed. Whether that
satisfies a court, a regulator or a counterparty in a particular matter is a
question for them and for your own advisers, and we make no representation about it.
13Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental,
special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business
or loss of data, arising out of your use of the service.
Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms is limited to
the greater of the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before
the claim, or one hundred euros.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including
liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any
mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
14Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from
your breach of these Terms or from content you captured or stored in breach of the
rights of a third party.
15Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last
changed. For material changes we will email account holders before they take
effect; continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the updated
Terms.
16Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, and the courts of Sweden have
exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except that, if you are a consumer, you
keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may
bring proceedings there.
